The failure to appoint 53 temporary prison officers by the Public Service Commission has created unrest at the island's lone prison HMP Dodds.
According to Attorney at Law David Comissiong there is tension at the Barbados Prison Service that relates to the unappointed officers and several more that are facing supersession.
Comissiong, who is the counsel Barbados Prison Officers Association, says the issue of staff appointments at the prison service appeared to constitute a breach of Section 13 of the Public Service Act, 2007 – 41.
He has written a letter to David Bowen, chairman of the Public Service Commission stating the concerns of the Prison Officers Association.
