Monica Skervin of Nannyville, Kingston Three, Jamaica was sentenced to two years at Her Majesty's Prison, Dodds, after pleading guilty to drug possession in the District B Magistrates Court this morning.
The 48 year old businesswoman pleaded guilty to possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation of three pounds of marijuana. She was convicted, reprimanded and discharged on the possession charge.
Customs Officers discovered the drugs in Skervin's luggage at the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) last night.
She is the third Jamaican woman to be caught with drugs at the GAIA within the last three weeks.
Elaine Joy Robinson, 29, was remanded to HMP Dodds, after a box containing 28 tins of cannabis were found in her luggage by customs officers at the GAIA on February 27.
Herphilee Bradford, 30, was arrested after lawmen found 4 pounds of cannabis in a false bottom in her suitcase at the GAIA last weekend.
