Thirty–seven receive GDF Bursaries

 

Georgetown : Thirty-seven children of Officers, Other Ranks and civilian employees of the Guyana Defence Force, who successfully completed the National Grade Six Examination and gained places at secondary school were presented with Bursaries at the Force’s 2011 Bursary awards.  Each award is valued $25,000 per year, and will be offered over a period of five year providing the students remain at secondary school.

Heading the award recipients was Miss. Brassette Henry who gained 530 marks at the examination. Second and third place awardees were Miss. Aneesa Hussain and Master Kurk Rogers with 524 and 521 marks respectively.

In brief remarks at the award ceremony, Captain (CG) John Flores congratulated the awardees and their parents for the hard work and dedication that resulted in success. He also reminded the awardees that they had entered another phase in building their foundation for future success.
