Berbice- Shoot out between Swat and heavily armed criminals leaves three dead in what many are calling a fitting response to the reign of terror and fear that gripped the Corentyne within the past week. In a late afternoon operation Sunday, police were in hot pursuit of men believed to be part of a gang that robbed residents in Black Bush Polder recently. The shootout took place in the backlands of Johanna South and with the sustained operations by officers in Berbice and the Swat who were deployed recently to the troubled area, 3 criminals lay dead in a hail of gunfire. One is said to be the notorious Kelvin Shivgobin wanted for murder and a series of armed robberies.(photos guyana chronicle)
