Georgetown : Three suspects are in police custody assisting the lawmen into the investigation of a robbery under arms.
The police says at 12:20 pm. today at Norton Street, Georgetown, miner Abdool Sattaur and Patricia Edwards were attacked and robbed by three men armed with a firearm, a cutlass and an ice-pick.
Investigations revealed that the victims were at home when the perpetrators entered through an open door and held them up. They then took away their jewellery during which Edwards’ mother Shelly Lake put up a resistance and was chopped to her forehead, after which the men escaped.
Quick response by the police following the receipt of the report led to the arrest of the three suspects in the Le Repentir Cemetery.
Shelly Lake was taken to the Georgetown Hospital where she is receiving medical attention.
