Trinidad: Three murders were reported in the last 24 hours. In three separate incidents, dead are 15 year old Keon Pharrell, 50 year old Dexter Lewis and Damion Roopchansingh. In the first incident 15 year old Keon Pharrell of John-John Laventillle was shot several times about the body. According to police around 11 o’clock last night Keon boarded a taxi at Marcano Street and when he got to Plaisance Terrace two men opened fire on him. Police officers rushed to the scene and took Keon to the Port- of – Spain General Hospital where he died while undergoing emergency treatment. A motive for the killing is not yet known. In another incident about 8:30 this morning police were called to a house at 11th Street Barataria where they found two men inside nursing gunshot wounds. The two men were taken to the Port- of- Spain General Hospital where one of the men identified as 50 year old Dexter Lewis of Martin Trace El Socorro was pronounced dead on arrival. The second man Ordae Andrews of 11th Street is currently receiving emergency treatment at the hospital. In the third incident Sheldon Roopchansingh went to visit his brother Damion of Hibiscus Drive La Romaine but when he called out to him he got no response. Later upon checking Mr Roopchansingh found his brother dead on the floor. There were wounds to the upper part of his body. Investigations into the murder are currently underway. The three murders come one day after Police Commissioner Dwayne Gibbs proudly said that there are decreases in the number of crimes committed in the country. He said while there is need to do better in detection, reduction was a good sign and he is pleased with his performance thus far as he is working very hard.
