Three to be charged with robbery, rape of mother & daughter

Chaguanas: Three men will appear in court on before the week's end, charged with the sexual assault of a 49-year-old Central woman and her 17-year-old daughter.

The men were expected to appear in court this morning, but were taken for medical and dna checks instead. Charges are yet to be formally laid against the trio, ages 19, 20 and 25. It is expected that the men would be charged with sexual assault and robbery.

It all stems from an incident on September 21st in Penco Lands, Chaguanas, when a group of men stormed into the home of a businessman and his family. A fourth man aged 20 is being sought by officers but is managing thus far to elude capture.

Meantime, the 17-year-old spent her sixth day at hospital today following the brutal attack. Reports say the teen remains sedated.

A 52-year-old Point Fortin man has become the country's latest murder victim. Southern Division officers say Wayne Carrington was outside his Resevoir Road home, when two men ran up to him and shouted out his name. As Carrington responded, the men opened fire on him.

Carrington was shot several times, as his attackers fled. He died on the scene. Police are yet to establish a motive for this murder.
