Timothy Tucker elected GCCI President

Georgetown: Former Vice President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Timothy Tucker, has been elected the Chamber’s new President on Tuesday after the Chambers held its first Statutory Council Meeting and elected a new Executive Management Committee (EMC) for the year 2021/2022.

Tucker has been a strong advocate for local content development in the new oil producing country and has signalled his intent to continue pushing for Guyanese companies to enjoy maximum benefits from the emerging oil and gas industry.

He said the Chamber will continue to be the leading private sector support organisation fostering capacity building and business development for the local private sector in order to compete in the oil and gas industry and other industries that make up the Guyana economy.

“Those industries need to be developed to first-world standards,” he stated.

The other members who were elected as the new Executive Management Committee include Gerald Gouevia Jr. from Roraima Airways as Senior Vice President, while Kester Hutson from Dapper Technology Inc. will serve as Junior Vice President.

As Treasurer, Gavin Ramsoondar of Zarc Properties Inc. was elected and as Secretary, Shaleeza Shaw from Demerara Bank Limited was elected.  Sixteen other persons were also elected to serve as members of the Council.
