Tobago presents $4 billion budget

Tobago: The Tobago House of Assembly (THA) is seeking close to $4 billion in funding from the government as the THA Secretary of Finance and Enterprise Development, Dr Anselm London delivered the Assembly's Budget.

Dr London says the THA will fight any attempts to re-colonize the island by the People's Partnership Central Government which he also accused of trying to to emasculate Tobago.

It now appears that the already troubled relations between the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, may be heading for the rocks as Dr London chastise Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

Dr London listed close to thirty examples from the past year of what he sees as the Government's disrespect and deceit.

In the Budget he listed 500 development projects for the island. Last year the THA asked for just over $3 billion but received $2.5 billion or 5.24 percent of total government expenditure.

While the issue of who has the controlling rights over the Community Enhamcement Programme (CEPEP) remains unresolved, Dr London was resolute in his side's position.

Last year the THA spent $17.3 million on CEPEP and says contrary to other reports they have not been hoarding the money. Dr London added that the THA will be doing independent audits of its books to ensure accountability.
