Tomorrow is court decision for Elections petition

Dominica: According to a report on the Dominica NewsOnline, tomorrow is decision day in the elections petitions against Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and Education Minister Peter Saint Jean, brought by defeated UWP election candidates Ron Green and Maynard Joseph.

The prime minister and his education minister are accused of being citizens of France when they were nominated to contest the general elections of December 18, 2009, therefore breaching the country’s electoral rules.

The DNO report said that Legal luminary, Sir Brian Alleyne, who served as Acting Chief Justice of the OECS Supreme Court for three and a half years, give his view that if the stay of execution is granted, the prime minister has the option of dissolving parliament and calling a new general election.
