The Police Service Commission (PSC) has sent Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin on administrative leave. According to the PSC, Dottin was being retired in the public interest with immediate effect.
The PSC also named Assistant Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith to act as interim boss of the Royal Barbados Police Force.
Over the weekend a newspaper broke a story that the PSC were planning to take action again the police chief. According to a source, lawyers for Dottin will be filing an injunction against the PSC for its unprecedented action.
Dottin was appointed Commiissioner on January 12, 2004.
