More tourists visited Barbados last year than in 2010, president of the Barbados Tourism Authority(BTA) David Rice told Trakker News figures showed a seven percent increase over 2010.
In 2011 the number tourists visiting Barbados were 572,000 tourists an increase of 38,000 over the previous year.
"What was most noticeable is that this performance was better than the performance of 2008 which was a growth year ,we had an improvement of over one full percent over 2008", Rice said.
He also expressed sattisfaction with the growth in the Caribbean market particularly Trinidad and Tobago.
"The area of where we saw a lot of growth was in Trinidad and Tobago in terms of their improvement year by year. There were close to 10.000 visitors over 12 months when compared to the previous year and in other CARICOM states", Rice said.
