Veteran trade union leader Sir Roy Trotman, has made a call for the Employment Rights legislation to be in place by the end of the month.
Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, in an address at the May Day celebrations said that the Bill should become a reality at the end of the year.
Sir Roy. the General Secretary of the Barbados Workers Union, the largest trade union on the island, says the Bill should have been on the statute books a long time ago.
"Until the Employments Rights Bill is passed, the freedom of employees to associate would always be in jeopardy',Sir Roy said.
"Employers must understand that workers have rights and the rights are in their jobs; so the Employment Rights Bill is a today must not an end of the year must", he added.
