Georgetown: Almost daily there are traffic and crime prevention tips on the national television network, yet the situation on the roadways is chaotic as drivers continue to blatantly flout the laws. There is a law against tinting of vehicles which has been enforced with a zero tolerance approach, yet many vehicles carry 5% tints, the darkest that exists. After the passing of the tint law, under certain criteria the Minister of Home Affairs issued 6 months passes for tinting, however this was stopped during the last year and only diplomats and government officials were allowed tints.Today on the roadways many private owned vehicles including taxis are tinted. This is a clear case that traffic ranks turn a blind eye to the offence or are being bribed. The situation has angered some drivers who are often penalized by ranks when they let others go for the same offence.
