Georgetown: A jealous love affair turned deadly after a Linden man went berserk Wednesday evening and hacked his ex-lover and her partner to death.
The murders occurred at the woman’s Lot 177 Prosville. Wismar, Linden home. A man is in Police custody. The suspect has been identified as Maxwell Usher.
Dead are 49-year-old Imogeme Gordon and Royston John; John is believed to be from Corentyne, Berbice.
Police said that the bodies of the couple were discovered with multiple stab wounds to the chest area. The incident occurred at around 20:30hrs. The suspect was caught a short distance away at around 07:30hrs on Thursday.
According to one resident, the suspect allegedly broke into the house and began attacking the couple with a knife while they were asleep. John was first attacked and killed.
Neighbours then contacted the police after hearing the couple’s scream for help, the suspect had already killed the duo and escaped from the premises. The police found a kitchen knife at the crime scene as investigations continue.
