Port of Spain: More than 20 Trinidad and Tobago nationals are caught up in the impasse in Egypt and now efforts are being made to get them out as soon as possible.
As violence is now erupting after more than a week of demonstrations in Egypt, Foreign Affairs Minister Suruj Rambachan says his ministry is working with the Embassy in Uganda to get the nationals safely out to neighbouring countries in the first instance and then back home.
Rambachan told reporters that there is at least one family there who wants to go to South Africa.
He says flights are difficult to get at this time but that "once we can get them on a flight they will be brought home".
