Bridgetown.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer of First Citizens Group Sharon Christopher, says the company wanted the Barbadian public to trust the institution and acept that is was going to deprive Barbados of anything.
"One of the biggest challenges is for people accept First Citizen, because there a fair amount of anti Trinidad and Tobago sentiment and we would like people to know that we are not coming into the country to strip off assets", Christopher said.
"We are coming in because we see a good synergy between us and Butterfield, we feel that this is a good opportunity to grow this institution and grow it to the benefit of the people of Barbados and ourselves, she added.
Christopher is holding meetings with the management of Butterfield Bank in Barbados. Last week, First Citizen announced it had aquired Butterfield Bank operations in Barbados.
