Twenty-year-old Dominican shot dead in the BVI

Dominica: Twenty-year-old Dominican, Kawanna Rhymer, was shot dead in the British Virgin Islands early on Friday morning, according to a report on the Dominica News Online.

Rhymer is from the village of Grand Fond and she leaves behind one son.

The DNO report said that a man suspected to be the perpetrator of the crime has turned himself in to the police and will be interrogated.

Reports indicate the incident occurred at 04:00hrs during an alleged altercation with a man in the parking lot of a night club.

It is reported that the Dominican was employed at Delta Gas Station and was living in the BVI for a number of years.

Grieving relatives gathered at the Pebbles Hospital in Tortola as police continue investigations into the crime.

Relatives interviewed by the media in the BVI said Rhymer is a quiet person who stays away from trouble.

Press reports from the BVI also stated that the alleged perpetrator is known, the DNO reported.
