Two Bulgarians men arrested for ATMs robberies

The  police have arrested two Bulgarians men for what is being called the biggest automatic teller machine (ATM) breach in Barbados.

The two men were arrested at Grantley Adams International Airport on Sunday night as they attempted to leave with the cash. They were also found to be in possession of laptops and card readers which police believe were used in the sophisticated heists.

According to a source, the men stole an estimated half million dollars from several ATMs. Lawmen are working on the theory that a third man who may have escaped by leaving the island on an earlier  flight.

  President of the Bankers’ Association, Horace Cobham told the media there is not need for the public to panic. He conirmed that many of the ATMs across the island had been targeted.

"These are early days and we are still trying to size up the problem. We are working with the police who are continuing their investigations", Cobham told the media.

He added that customers whose accounts were tampered with had been contacting their banks and they are providing the police with the information.
