Sealots: Two Sealots residents have been charged with the murder of three Central fishermen who were murdered last week.
Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard gave instructions to investigators earlier today to charge the two fishermen from pioneer drive in Sealots.
Gaspard gave the instructions after reviewing the file on the incident which was compiled by homicide detectives supervised by Senior Supt Donald Denoon.
The suspects, who are said to be 26 and 18 years old were arrested during a raid of their home, last Sunday by officers of the Besson Street CID led by Inspector Sahadeo Singh.
They are expected to appear in the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
During the raid, officers allegedly recovered two boat engines, fishing equipment and personal items which were later identified by the fishermen’s relatives.
Last Tuesday evening, Kasinath Ramsaran, his brother, Ravi of Cacandee Road, Felicity, and Prem Squires of Longdenville, left for a one-night fishing expedition in the Gulf of Paria.
Their pirogue was recovered last Thursday off the coast of Point Fortin, minus engines, fishing equipment and their personal effects.
Their decomposing bodies were recovered by police off the coast of Port-of-Spain and Carenage, last Friday afternoon.
The men were laid to rest on Wednesday.
