At about 11:30am today mini-bus BMM 9301 was proceeding along the Mabura Road in the vicinity of 35 Miles, Mabura, allegedly at a fast rate, and while negotiating a turn the driver ended up in the lane of
motor lorry GNN 2699 that was proceeding in the opposite direction resulting in a collision.
As a result of the impact Elvis Bennett, 38 years of Ruimveldt, Georgetown, and Nelisa Douglas, 18 months of Mahdia, who were both passengers in the mini-bus, received injuries and were pronounced dead at the McKenzie Hospital.
Thirteen other passengers and the driver of the mini-bus, along with the driver and an occupant of the motor lorry, received injuries and are being treated at the McKenzie Hospital.
