Two foreign students charged with university larceny

Port-of-Spain: Two foreign students, one from St lucia and another from the United States, attached to the University of the Southern Carribean at Maracas, St Joseph, will appear before a Tunapuna magistrate later today charged with breaking and enter and larceny.

The students are alleged to have carried out larceny at the university on May 8th and May 10th.  It was discovered that $35,000, along with three laptop computers valued at $15,000, were stolen.

After questioning two sudents, police officers went to three homes in Maracas St Joseph and Curepe where the laptops and some o f the moeny were recovered. The students who are related to a top official at the facility were arrested and charged..

Police sources confirm that while attempts are being made to drop the charges and have the students deported, they have done their job.
