Two former soldiers among 12 held in alleged assassination plot

Princes Town: A Princes Town muslim cleric who did Arabic studies in Saudi Arabia and a Valencia farmer related to an executive member of the Goat and Sheep Farmers Association, are two of several persons held for questioning in connection with the assassination plot against Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissesar and three of her ministers.

The two muslim scholars were held around the same time police held an Enterprise businessman.

Three police officers are also assisting police with their investigations.

The two muslim clerics are currently housed at the Cunupia Police Station, while Selwyn "Robocop" Alexis who was held earlier this week is being detained at the Belmont Police Station.

Two former soldiers are also in police custody in the Northern Division.
