Georgetown: Two Guyana Defense Force (GDF) ranks were on Sunday arrested and $18M in cash was dug up from the backyard of one of the ranks in Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo.

On Thursday last three armed persons robbed Wallison Enterprise at Gordon Street, Kitty carting off over $38 million in local currency and $20 million worth in raw gold.
A 45-year-old goldsmith and a 20-year-old cashier were at work at Wallison Enterprise, Lot 23, Gordon Street, Kitty, when the bandits entered at 10:05hrs on Thursday.
One of the GDF suspect was identified as Keyon King. Initially, a security guard was arrested and was assisting with investigations.
Police said the three suspects came with a white car and parked it north of the building and entered the compound, through the main gate.
They reportedly indicated to the security guard that they were there to sell gold, before entering.
Police said the armed suspects then entered the waiting area where they spoke to the cashier and showed her a small package, which they claimed contained the gold to be sold.
Immediately after the suspects drew their firearms and ordered her into an office where the money and gold were secured.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras as investigations continue.
