Two hundred new Barbadians

Bridgetown.

Two hundred people  were made citizens of Barbados in official citizenship ceremony at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre yesterday.

Governor General, Sir Elliott Belgrave and Prime Freundel Stuart were witnesses as Chief Justice Marston Gibson administered the Oath of Allegiance to the 200 new Barbadians.

 

"In becoming Barbadian citizens, you willing take on the responsibility to uphold the law of the land, and respect the rights of your fellow Barbadians. Equality under the law and respect for each other beliefs not only serve as the underpininnings of our democracy but are vital aspects of our way of life and contributes to our peaceful coexistence  as a people", Stuart told the new Barbadians.

He encouraged them to reflect on how they can held shape the destiny of their new nation.
