San Fernando: Two men are expected to appear in court today charged with possession of thousands of dollars in counterfeit US currency.
One of them is a 44-year-old United States national and the other a 38-year-old resident of La Brea.
According to reports senior Superintendent Robert Cummings, along with a party of officers intercepted a black Almera car at Isaac Junction in Couva yesterday. The officers claim that upon checking the car, a large quantity of US bills was found inside. The men were immediately arrested. Police then obtained a search warrant and went to one of the men’s homes, where they are said to have discovered more US counterfeit currency.
The men are expected to appear before a Couva magistrate this morning.
