a: At least five people including one woman are nursing serious and critical injuries at hospital following an accident along the south-bound lane of the Solomon Hochoy Highway near Couva.
Investigators say at least one person is in critical condition.
The accident happened near the Ato Boldon Stadium when a truck ran into a tractor which carrying out works on the highway. The truck loaded with bricks ended up in the median of the highway. The mishap resulted in at least three other cars slamming into the tractor resulting in a serious traffic pile up on both the north and south bound lanes of the Solomon Hochoy Highway.
An ambulance took the injured away and the vehicles involved were eventually towed.
In another accident attracting the attention of the police, a yellow painted school bus and a car collided along the Solomon Hochoy Highway in the vicinity of the Grand Bazaar Plaza. Police have confirmed that several children in the bus were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. Three have been warded.
The driver of the car which hit the school bus is being questioned by the police.
