Two pedestrians fatally struck and one critically injured by drunk driver

St. Thomas:  17-year-old Aliya Robles and 18-year-old Jolcia Wilson was yesterday fatally struck down and another 18-year-old female was critically injured by a vehicle driven by 33-year-old, Karen J. Williams who was driving under the influence of alcohol on the Weymoth Rymer Highway at about 05:00hrs.

The three females, who were reportedly exercising, were walking westward in the area just pass the Donoe Road intersection. Williams was driving a beige Honda Accord on the same road travelling east when she lost control of the vehicle, which left the road and veered up onto the sidewalk, striking the three pedestrians. The vehicle then hit a stop sign, spun around and collided into a WAPA utility pole, where it came to rest.

Police arrested Williams, after administering the Field Sobriety and Breathalyzer tests, and charged her with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Negligent Homicide. Her bail was set at $10,000 and she was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending her advice of rights hearing.
