GEORGETOWN: Vincent Alexander, Registrar of the University of Guyana (UG), announced his retirement. “On December 1, I advised the community that I was giving way, in terms of registrar activities, to the Deputy Registrar…” Mr. Alexander disclosed in his opening remarks at the event. However, he noted that he will complete all outstanding and ongoing activities, such as the Annual Award Ceremony, before his departure after 36 years of serving the University. Alexander was appointed Registrar of UG in 2009 with effect from April 1. He joined the academic staff of the University of Guyana in 1988 as Research-Fellow/Lecturer in the Institute of Development Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences. He served as Dean of the faculty from 1993 to 1994. In 1994 Mr. Alexander was appointed the first Deputy Registrar of UG.
Alexander expressed that he is delighted to carry on the tradition of the Registrar chairing the awards ceremony and charged his colleagues to give of their best.
