Under APNU+AFC Guyana will be an Education Nation

Georgetown : APNU+AFC Presidential candidate Brigadier Granger returned yesterday to Georgetown after a two days of campaigning in the Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice Region (Region No.10).   Addressing a public meeting at the Atonement Primary School, Ebini Upper Berbice River, BrigadierGranger assured residents that there would serious education restructuring under a new administration after the next general and regional elections. Granger, leading a team that included APNU MP Annette Ferguson and several Regional Officials, said that under his Presidency Guyana will be an education Nation.

 

“The single biggest problem at the national level, which has dire implications for the future, is the broken public education system”.  Granger said, “our teachers are integral to the reform of Guyana’s education system. In order to achieve the level of skill necessary to develop a competent workforce, the Coalition believes that there must be rigorous procedures to identify suitable candidates for teacher training.” The Coalition Presidential Candidate said that it was important that great emphasis be placed to pave the way for improved teacher training, mentoring of new teachers, and the continued upgrading of skills by partnering with relevant stakeholders and investing significantly in the individuals charged with educating our future leaders.

 

During the meeting at the Atonement Primary School, Granger presented a tablet to the school’s headmistress Ms. Claudia Monah- Morris.
