Unemployment benefits period extended

The Ministry of Labour has annonced an extension of  unemployment benefits period. In August 2010, the period was temporarily increased from 26 to 40 weeks and has been further extended until June 30.

As a result, an unemployment benefit will be calulated at 60 percent for the first 26 weeks. The remaining 14 weeks will be calculated at a rate of 40 percent of earnings.
