Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova, says she was very impressed with Barbados efford, drive and ambition to protect Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison.
"I hope this interest continues because once we have inscribed this property, it is very important to manage it well, I see there are knowledgeable people who are doing this and I have an extremely positive impression of their management", Bokova said.
She described the historic part of Bridgetown as very diverse, with building showing the incredible cultural deversity of the island.
Bokova made the comments while touring the area, less than 24 hours after it was offically inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Property.
