West Coat Demerara: The police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 3:45pm today on the Public Road at De Willem, WCD, and which resulted in the death of a so far unidentified man of East Indian descent.
Investigations revealed that the man was walking along the roadway when he was struck down by a motor lorry. He was pronounced dead at the Leonora Cottage Hospital.
The victim appears to be in his mid-forties, is medium built, dark complexion and about 5’7” in height. The body is at the WDRH mortuary.
The driver of the vehicle is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
