The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) will soon making proposals for salaries and wages to the Ministry of Civil Service on behalf of public servants.
Acting general secretary of the NUPW told Trakker News that the last wages contract would end this weekend, setting the stage for a new agreement.
Smith said that public workers had endured a tough time during the past two years, while there were increases in value added tax, national insurance and taxation on personal allowances.
"Its been a rough time for the public servants. They have been relegated to the working poor with high cost of living and it is reasonable legitimate expectations over the next two years for some form of increase", Smith said.
