US Embassy says TT relations not affected by Cuba-Caricom Summit

Queen's Park: The United States Embassy says the decision to restrict the Trinidad Hilton from hosting the two-day Cuba-Caricom summit will not affect the relationship between both countries.

Acting Public Affairs Officer Alexander Mclaren at the US Embassy said the United States government values its excellent relationship with the government of this counrty and it recognises the important role Trinidad and Tobago plays as a leader in the region.

Mclaren says as a United States-based hotel, Hilton Trinidad is subject to US laws and regulations that requires it to obtain a license from the US Department of the Treasury, to host Cuban nationals at the two-day summit.

The embassy says it looks forward to continued productive engagement with Trinidad and Tobago on issues of interest to both nations.
