UWI moves to the nex frontier

Bridgetown.

Principal of the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies Sir Hilary Beckles, says the new online programmes at the campus  has taken the institution to the next frontier.

"We will have another body of students who are online and I suspect, in other ten years we will have as many online students registered at here as those who physically comes here", Sir Hilary told Trakker News.

Sir Hilary said the online programmes at the Cave Hill Campus were part of the notion of having a university graduate in every Barbadian household.

"There are 110,000 households in Barbados and I think we can complete this process by creating knowledge households, when there are one or more members of of a household being a university graduate along with the internet and broadband, the tools of learning, that home is transformed i8nto a knowledge household", Sir Hilary added.

According to Sir Hilary, every home in the future will have to be a knowledge based household, he suggested this strategy will keep Barbados as a viable economy and society.
