Veteran trade unionist calls for minimum wages

Bridgetown.

Veteran trade unionist, Sir Roy Trotman, has call on the Government to expedite the implementation of a national minimum wages for workers.

Sir Roy said that minimum wages would act as a means of establishing a social protection floor, increasing consumption and a speeding up of the process of economic recovery in both formal and informal economies.

Sir Roy said while there  had been talk about a $300 a week minimum wage but a $300 a week minimum wage is not saying anything, given the country's high cost of living.
