East Bank Demerara : Steve Mohamed, 26 years, of Kaneville, East Bank Demerara,v (EBD) was shot and injured by the police during an armed confrontation at around 7:30pm yesterday.
Investigations have revealed that acting on information received the police went to Friendship, EBD, where they saw Steve Mohamed who was wanted for questioning in relation to investigations being conducted into reports of murder and robbery under arms.
On seeing the police Mohamed opened fire on the ranks who returned fire hitting him to his left upper leg.
Mohamed was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre and was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he is under guard.
A .38 special revolver with two spent shells and three live rounds were recovered by the police.
