West Indies has the advantage against Bangladesh

Mirpur.

Centuries by Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Kieran Powell give the West Indies the advantage over Bangladesh at of Mirpur.

Darren Sammy won the toss and elected to bat, Chris Gayle, Darren Bravo and the inform Marlon Samuels were dismissed in the morning session leaving the West Indies in trouble at 103 for 3.

The evergreen Shivnarine Chanderpaul joined Kieran Powell who opened the innings with Gayle shared a partnership of 125 for the fourth wicket.

Powell made an attacking 117,  his second test century, he struck 18 fours and and 1 six , he was dismissed with the score on 231.

 Chanderpaul took the opportunity on a good batting  pitch to score  his 26 test century, it was a workman like innings for the veteran batsman who was 123 not out at the end of play.

The dogged left handed batsman is now joint second with Sir Garfield on the list of century makers for the West Indies,  Brian Lara with 34 centuries is at the top of list.

Denesh Ramdin and Chanderpaul has so far added 130 for the fifth wicket, he is on 52 not out

At the close of play the West Indies were 361 for 4. Debutant off spinner  Sohag Gazi, who open the bowling  was the best bowler for Banagladesh with 3 wickets for 97 runs from 32 overs.

 Left arm spinner Veerasammy Pemaul is making  his test debut for the West Indies.
