West Indies named squad for the first Test against Australia

Bridgetown.

The West Indies has named a 13 man squad for the first Test against Australia. Allrounder Narsingh Deonarine has been recall to the squad for the first time in two years, he last played for the West Indies in 2010 against South Africa.

Deonarine, a left handed middle-order batsman and right arm off break bowler is the leading batsmen in this year West Indies Cricket Board Regional competition with 582 runs  at 44.74 and 20 wickets at 16.9 each.

"We have kept faith with the players who did well in Bangladesh an India, we believe they will come good as a group.The bowling unit did very well for us last year and we expect the same this year", chairman of selectors Clyde Butts said.

"we felt the team did a good job in the ODIs and T20 under the leadership of Darren Sammy and we expect them to continue to show the same kind of fight and determination in the longer format of the game", he added.

The squad is Darren Sammy captain, Kirk Edwards, Adrian Barath, Carlton Baugh, Devendra Bishoo, Kraigg Brathwaite,Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul,Narsigh Deonarine, Fidel Edwards,Kieran Powell, Ravi Rampaul and Kemar Roach.

The first Test begins at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday.
