Georgetown: A 30 year old woman killed her 20 year old brother after he physically abused his wife in front of her on Sunday at their Parika Backdam, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) residence.
Dead is Alex Morgow, a Fisherman, of Parika Backdam. His sister Lashena Morgow, a Farmer was arrested and is in police custody.
Enquiries disclosed that the victim resides at a one story wooden structure, with his common law wife, the suspect and her son.
On Sunday after leaving the market, they all left for the suspect’s friend’s home, located at first Koker, Parika, EBE where the suspect started to drink. They spent about two hours there, then left for home.
On arrival home about 17:30 hours, the fisherman and his wife had an argument over food that she prepared for him, which resulted in him pushing her to the ground.
While on the ground, he kicked and a slapped her in the presence of his sister. Lashena Morgow then suspect intervened and questioned her brother which resulted in an argument and a physical altercation.
The suspect then ran to the kitchen, where she picked up a knife and rushed back to her brother where they continued arguing.
She then dealt her brother a stab to his left side chest and pulled out the knife. The fisherman then stumbled outside and fell to the ground, an alarm was raised and the police were summoned.
She was arrested and a search was conducted which revealed the suspected murder weapon in a black and white hand bag she was carrying.
The body was then escorted to Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty at 20:30 hours and then escorted to the Ezekiel Funeral home where it is awaiting a Post Mortem Examination as investigations continue.
