Women at Police Outpost in viral video to face five charges

Berbice: Two women will Thursday face five charges and are expected to appear at the number 51 Magistrate Court in Berbice after creating a ruckus at the Rose Hall Police Outpost recently.

Twenty-two year old Yashmine Ramsook and 30 year old Mona Singh both of Lot 3 #36 Village, Corentyne, Berbice appears in a viral video behaving offensively towards law enforcement ranks, even using racial remarks towards police officers.

In the video the women were heard using explicit language towards police officers while on the phone. The women also threatened to have the police ranks who were on duty at time, fired and or transfer even as they promised to called Security Minister Khemraj Ramjattan

Police said the women will be charged with disorderly behavior, assaulting peace officer, dangerous driving, damage to property and resisting peace officer.

“Legal advice is to be obtained in respect of certain utterances/remarks against the ranks as expressed in videos,” police said.

Police confirmed that the incident took place on Monday December 02, 2019 at the Rose Hall Police Outpost. The two women were released on bail on the night in question.

The two ended up at the police outpost after Yashmine Ramsook who was driving motorcar PTT 5628, reportedly struck a parked vehicle and drove away without stopping.

A police patrol vehicle caught up with her after intercepting her at Port Mourant and directed her back to Rose hall outpost where a breathalyzer test revealed that she was below the legal limit of alcohol consumption.

Mona Singh who is the sister of Ramsook, was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
