Over 70 percent of the 1372 students who graduated from the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) this year were women.
This was revealed by Chancellor of the UWI Sir George Alleyne, during the graduation ceremony yesterday at the Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.
Sir George said total enrolment at the Cave Hill Campus was 8517 with 7497 undergraduates students and 1020 postgraduates students.
This year, 1671 students graduated from the Cave Hill Campus including 307 at post graduate level.
Valedictorian Jerelle Joseph in her address challenged her follow graduates to be movers and shakers of growth, innovation and industry.
""I urge that we live our lives with a consciousness of how our actions not only affects ourselves but also the people and the space in which we live", Joseph said.
