Women’s contributions not recognised.

Barbados' Minister of Labour, Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo believes that the contribution of women have gone unnotice for too long.

Speaking at a rally in Hero Square to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the International Women's Day, Dr. Byer-Suckoo said the contributions should not only be recognised on International Women's Day but every day.

"I want to acknowledge the work of women who have gone before us, who have paved the way.Because of them and their struggles, we can stand here proudly.

Acknowledging that the recession has affected a number of women who head households, Byer-Suckoo stressed that in the past, recessions have helped to changed the defintion of what women can do.
