Students will be brought to the Capital City, Georgetown, two days prior to the debate and will attend training sessions on parliamentary etiquette and decorum, the democratic process, parliamentary procedures, etcetera. Former Members of Parliament and staff of the Parliament Office will serve as mentors for the students and will assist them in developing supporting or opposing arguments on the motion. The participants will assume the roles of Speaker, Clerk, Deputy Clerk, Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition, Ministers of Government and Private Members of the Opposition and Government. The debate will be judged and prizes will be awarded to all participants.

In order to ensure wide participation and to avoid accusations of "unequal participation" as it relates to the geographic composition, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Guyana Branch, three (3) participants were selected from each Region with the exception of Region No. 4 which will have the opportunity to select eight (8) participants due to its geographic location. Additionally, five (5) teachers were identified to accompany these students to the training prior to the sitting, and to the sitting.
