Bridgetown.
The Royal Barbados Police Force’s Traffic Division has implemented a zero tolerance policy to protect legitimate road users from the risks posed by those who recklessly ride high-powered motorbikes and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).
In recent times, motorists have been forced to share the road with stunt bikers who use heavily traversed highways or even smaller roads to practise their “wheelies”, “bunny-hops” and a number of other dangerous manoeuvres, as well as ATV users who ride in groups and execute their stunts between traffic.
In addition, some riders have been involved in crashes, but flee the scene, leaving victims to face insurance liabilities and high repair costs.
According to head of the Force’s Traffic Department Station, Sergeant Rodney Inniss, police have increased motor patrols in certain areas, and are hoping to bring the bad practices to a halt.
